We believe that climate change is the most important environmental challenge we face today. It's not enough for us to power the world with clean solar energy: we must also ensure that our production processes and supply chain relationships have minimal environmental impacts.
Yingli Green Energy is partnering with leading global brands to spearhead a global shift towards a low-carbon economy as a member of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) . As the first PV module manufacturer and the first Chinese company to join Climate Savers, we're helping to kick-start a new era of low-carbon solar PV manufacturing.
The WWF, one of the world's oldest and most respected independent conservation groups, helped us to establish aggressive sustainability targets designed to significantly reduce our carbon footprint as part of our membership in Climate Savers. Using 2010 as our baseline year, we aim to reach the following goals by 2015:
Reduction of GHG emissions per MW of PV module production, including direct emissions and indirect emissions from the consumption of electricity and heat
Reduction of GHG emissions from purchased goods and services per MW of PV module production
Reduction of GHG emissions from upstream transportation

As an industry leader, Yingli has been committed to transforming cutting-edge technologies into high-performance products. While pursuing this target, we have been constantly reducing energy consumption and GHG emissions in our production and operation in order to provide greener and cleaner PV products to our customers.

We also will encourage our peers in PV manufacturing to follow our example by developing a "Global Green Solar Manufacturing Standard." This standard aims at promoting energy consumption reduction, increasing utilization percentage of renewable energy, and reducing GHG emissions throughout our industry. We hope that our position as an industry leader will help us demonstrate ecological production and profitability can go hand-in-hand.
